Kathmandu, Sept. 30: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the incumbent government was trying to muzzle up the freedom of the press.

At a festive greetings exchange program organized by Nepal National Magar Association State-3 committee in Kathmandu today, President Deuba argued the NC would never compromise in defending free press as it is a backbone of democracy.

Also speaking on the occasion, NC vice president and former Deputy Prime Minister Bimalendra Nidhi accused the ruling party of mobilizing its cadres to launch attacks on NC cadres.

NC General Secretary Dr. Shashanka Koirala said the government was failing to implement the constitution and meet peoples’ aspirations.
