Kathmandu, June 18: PM KP Sharma Oli has said that undemocratic forces have come together jeopardizing republic, democracy and federalism.
Addressing a press meet at Singh Durbar today, PM Oli said ultra–rightists and ultra-leftist forces have mingled with retrogressive and reactionary forces against people’s rule.
PM Oli also said that Nepali Congress displayed activities against parliamentary practices and norms by restricting him from addressing the parliament. The PM also said that Nepali Congress obstructed the house proceedings after he had taken the rostrum. Such behavior is childish and such practices in democracy takes place nowhere.
Meantime, the PM reminded all that the achievement followed by the fall of Ranarchy could not be materialized as the reactionary forces brought chasm among the democratic, pro-people forces squashing all achievement so far and the current achievement was possible when all the democratic forces came together. Thus, it is responsibilities of all to protect the achievements made so far.
He also reiterated the incumbent government’s commitment towards democracy, independence, integrity, press freedom, human rights and fundamental rights enshrined in the constitution.
Addressing the media persons, PM Oli said the government brought the Guthi bill forward to manage and conserve the traditional cultural heritages and monuments. However, taking the same reference, rumors have been spread and attempts have been made to imperil democracy. Thus, the Minister for Land Management has withdrawn the Guthi bill with an aim of having further discussions with the concerned stakeholders.
The PM also said that the bill could have been discussed in the parliament. The culture of demonstrating at Maitighar Mandala despite having space for ample discussions in the house is not appropriate. The PM added that the incumbent government is aware about people’s discontent as it has been formed on the basis of people’s movement which itself stands on the uprising caused due to people’s discontents.
PM Oli called on all to come together to save the achievement that was materialized with the common efforts of all as the incumbent government has been heading with a nation building campaign. Also talking about his recent Europe visit, the PM said that his visit has been successful.
