12th Republic day being celebrated today

May 29, Kathmandu : Nepal is marking 12th Republic day today. The day is being observed amid various programs.

Republic Day is a special day in the history of Nepal that commemorates the creation of the federal Democratic Republic of Nepal .

On this occasion, a programme is being held at the Nepal Army Pavilion Tundhikhel, attended by President Bidya  Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, National Assembly Chair, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina along with other ministers and high level officials.

While addressing the program, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli  has said republic is not only a political system but a system for overall social transformation. Prime Minister Oli further said that the day encourages Nepali people to take pride in republic and representative system and respect democratic institutions.

Nepal Government’s high officials, chiefs of constitutional bodies, industrialists, civil service employees, and other distinguished personalities took part in the ceremony.
