President Bhandari stresses on reviewing environmentally adverse development models

Beijing, April 27: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has said that countries like Nepal who hardly contribute in carbon emission have been paying the unjust price of climate change impact due to rapid environmental damages carried out to satisfy the booming consumer culture.

Addressing the third session of the second conference of the Belt and Road Forum for international cooperation today, president Bhandari stressed on reviewing the environmentally adverse development models.

She warned that if we failed to adopt the environment-friendly model of development, our future remains starkly dark. Meantime, she further said Nepal has a high potential for developing hydropower which can be beneficial to adopt green development in the neighboring countries as well.

She also expressed a belief that the Belt and Road Initiative will help Nepal to extend its connectivity to join the global market.
