August 8, Kathmandu: The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Narayan Khadka, is embarking on an official visit to China on Tuesday (August 9) at the invitation of Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi.
While in China, Minister Khadka and his Chinese counterpart Wang will hold a bilateral meeting in the Chinese city of Qingdao on Wednesday (August 10) leading their respective delegations.
Foreign Affairs expert Dr. Dinesh Bhattarai says the bilateral meeting between the two ministers is likely to focus on issues such as the status of different ongoing Chinese infrastructure development projects in Nepal, Nepal’s trade deficit with China, people-to-people relations between the two countries, and China’s increased concerns in regards to the changed geopolitical condition.
Dr. Bhattarai also said such high-level exchanges had been a tradition of Nepali diplomacy.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chinese Minister Wang will host a state banquet in honour of Minister Khadka on Wednesday.
Minister Khadka and his delegation will return home on Thursday (August 11).
