UML general convention to take place in Chitwan

October 22, Kathmandu: The main opposition CPN (UML) has decided to organise its 10th general convention in Chitwan on November 26-28.

The UML standing committee meeting on Thursday also formed a 21-member main management committee under the leadership of party leader and Bagmati Province in-charge Ram Bahadur Thapa to conclude the convention, said party spokesperson Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.

The general convention of the party at the local level is scheduled to take place on October 23 at the ward level and on October 26 at the municipal level.

However, the local level convention at flood-hit areas may get deferred, said Gyawali. A meeting of the facilitation task force formed to implement the party’s 10-point proposal has concluded on Thursday itself and its coordinator Dr Bhim Bahadur Rawal is slated to present suggestions in the party standing committee meeting on Friday, he said.

The meeting offered condolences to those who were killed in recent flooding and landslides across the country. It also demanded the government to provide relief and medical treatment for those who have been injured in the disasters. It also urged party cadres to help in rescue and relief efforts.
