Kathmandu, July 23: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has said the home administration has been successful in maintaining peace and security in the country.
During an interaction with media persons about annual work execution progress of the last fiscal year and the action plans of the Home Ministry, Home Minister Thapa underlined the need of strengthening the situation of peace and security to realize the vision of ‘prosperous Nepal and happy Nepalese.
He also said the government is trying to avoid untoward incidences of violence from the Netra Bikram Chand-led Group so as to further strengthen federalism by safeguarding political achievements.
Stating that a solution to the issue is possible through talks, he shared that the Chand led Group had been requested several times to come for the talks. But the government hasn’t got any proposal yet from the Group for talks.
Meantime, the Home Minister claimed that attempts are made to politicize the rape and murder case of Nirmala Panta and underlined the need of collaborative efforts among the Home Administration, Civil Society, and journalists to find out perpetrator.
He said although Nepal Police became 95 percent successful to bring murderers and rapists under the ambit of action, investigations are underway in some cases.
