Gas and petrol companies are making unethical profit in pretext of crisis: Secretary General Guterres

August 4, Kathmandu: The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, has accused the petrol and gas companies of taking advantage of the ongoing energy crisis and making unethical profits. 

Secretary General Guterres opined that more special taxes should be enforced on the petrol and gas companies. 

Secretary-General Guterres said that taking excessive profits from poor communities in the world at a time of such a crisis was an example of corporate greed. 

Petrol and gas companies have made huge profits by taking advantage of the exponential increase in oil prices due to the Russia-Ukraine war, the BBC has mentioned.
