Chief Justice says he will leave the service only after fulfilling duties assigned by constitution and laws

The regular benches of the Supreme Court could hold earing today as well due to the persisting dispute between the Chief Justice and the justices.

Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabara had determined a single bench and 7 joint benches for the hearing on 2 hundred and 16 cases for Tuesday.

But, as the 15 justices held a discussion on the questions raised over the role of the Chief Justice, no benches could remain operational today.

It is reported that the discussion of the justices will continue tomorrow.

Meantime, Chief Justice Jabara said he would leave the service only after fulfilling his duties assigned by the constitution and the existing laws.

Spokesperson of the Supreme Court Baburam Dahal informed that the Chief Justice challenged the justices to resign from their post first and then only he would leave his service.
