Kathmandu: Minister for Home Affairs Bishnu Prasad Poudel has directed the Ministry of the Home Affairs and the security personnel to work without any external influence and pressure.

Assuming the office on Friday, Minister Poudel directed the staffers in the line agencies to work with a sense of responsibility and assured that there would not be any interference from him in the works of the security agencies and administration of the Ministry.

Emphasizing the freedom for any officials to work with his/her conscience and integrity, Poudel asserted, “I believe one should discharge his/her duty being result-oriented.”

On a different note, the Ministry strictly asked the staffers not to visit him for any transfer, promotion, foreign jaunts, and postponement of transfer. He reaffirmed that he would be held responsible for any decisions he makes as a Minister.

Minister Poudel reiterated that the security agencies and Home Ministry’s administration should not be under the influence of the political situation of the country.

On the occasion, Spokesperson at the Home Ministry, Janak Raj Dahal, said the newly appointed Minister had instructed the staffers working in line agencies to work in such a way that helps implement the government’s policies, programs, and plans.

According to Dahal, the Minister also encouraged the security agencies officials to appraise the Minister about the issues and challenges facing the security agencies while maintaining law and order. Minister Poudel has also held the portfolio of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply, and the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari entrusted Poudel with the responsibilities of these ministries on June 24 at the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
