Incessant rainfall creates havoc in different parts of the country

June 16, Kathmandu: The incessant rainfall since the last fours days has started causing destruction in different parts of the country.

In Sindupalchowk, flooding in Melamchi river has destruction of properties in Helambu rural municipality.

 Similarly, several highways including the Jayaprithvi Highway, the Karnali Highway, Bhimdutta Highway and the road to Chame from Beshi Shahar have been obstructed due to landslides at different places.

The flood in Dordi Khola in Lamajung has affected the construction of the 54-watt hydroelectricity project. About 60 workers working in the tunnel of hydropower were rescued before the flood water entered the tunnel.

Similarly, a person was swept away by the flood of Ratikhola in Salyan district. The police confirmed the deceased as Birman B. K of Darma Rural Municipality.

The flooding in the Marsyandi River has flooded the Tal Village of Manang district. Twenty among the sixty houses of the village were reported to have been affected by the food keeping other houses at risk.

Similarly settlements in low lying areas in Kanchanpur district have also been affected by the flood water collected from Chure.

Likewise, the flood in the Kaligandaki River has affected the Syangja bazaar of Syangja and Bihadi of Parbat district. The flood has affected 10 families of a settlement in Bihadi.

The water level in the Narayani River has also been reported to have crossed the hazardous level. East Nawalpur Chief District Officer Manmaya Pangeni said as the water level rose, all 36 gates of Gandak Barrage have been opened.
