Parliament settles Forestry University dispute: Minister Pokharel

Hetauda, Sept 14 : Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokharel, has said the ongoing dispute between the Institute of Forestry, Hetauda, and Agriculture and Forestry University, Chitwan, would be settled by the parliament.

At a programme organized here on Friday evening, Minister Pokharel reminded that new education policy was presented in the parliament and with the enforcement of the policy, the dispute would be resolved. With the enforcement of the policy, the University Act will legally solve the problem, he reiterated.

According to him, the government had allocated Rs 1.5 billion for the establishment of Madan Bhandari Science and Technology University at Chitlang. So, the study on it would begin within two years at any cost, he added.

On a different note, Minister Pokhrel said 62 percent of Nepalis were suffering from non-communicable disease, which was quite worrying. Yog, exercise, meditation and consumption of common foods could lessen the disease, he suggested.

The programme was also attended by lawmaker of federal parliament, Birodh Khatiwada, and State 3 lawmakers Munu Sigdel and Prem Bahadur Pulami.
