Government urges international community to invest in Nepal

Doha, Sept. 12: The government has called on the international community to invest in Nepal, stating that investment friendly environment has been enabled through legal, policy level and structural reforms.

Addressing a ministerial-level session of the World Energy Congress 2019 underway in Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates,  Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation, Barshaman Pun,  called on the foreign community to invest in Nepal with full confidence.

Minister Pun informed the gathering that government of Nepal aims to generate 15,000 megawatt of electricity within 10 years, adding that fifty percent of power to be produced will be exported. He also said internal consumption will be increased in the country by alternating the system to clean energy.

He further added consensus has been forged in regard with a ‘framework’ designed for the energy assistance and exchange among the SAARC countries and  the BIMSTEC nations.
