Jumla to connect with national grid in next two years: Minister Pun

Kathmandu, August 8: The government is set to connect remote mountainous Jumla district with the central power transmission line in the next two years.

Responding to queries raised by people’s representatives in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun said the process to connect the district with the national grid has already started.

Minister Pun said the Nepal Electricity Authority has announced a tender and reached an agreement to construct 33 kV transmission line covering 81 kilometers from Surkeht district.

He also informed that approximately Rs 2.22 billion worth of property of respective structures under the Ministry across the country were destroyed in the recent flooding and landslides.
