Kathmandu, May 24: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen Tham Maya Thapa today stressed the need for bringing the Nepal Children’s Organization (NCO) under the ministry. The NCO is currently under the Ministry of Home affairs.
Informing that efforts are on to bring bylaws for the effective enforcement of the Children Act, 2075, she said the standards to operate integrated child homes will be implemented, and a child right council and a child rights committee will be formed in all three levels of government.
She was putting her view at today meeting of the Women and Social Committee under the House of Representatives.
She also stressed the need for increasing budget in the sector of women, children and senior citizens. Committee president Nirudevi Pal said it is necessary for the Ministry to carry out monitoring how much foreign money comes into the country in the name of protection and care of orphaned children.
Committee members underlined the need of strict monitoring of the child shelter homes and orphanages operating in the country. (RSS)
