We’re effortful to retrieve artefacts sold to foreign countries: Archaeology Dept

October 18, Kathmandu: The Department of Archaeology has said it is effortful to bring back idols, sculptures, and artefacts that were stolen and illegally sold from Nepal to various countries and collectors over a period of time.

Director-General of the Department of Archaeology, Damodar Gautam said efforts were on in coordination with the Nepali embassies abroad, Interpol and foreign museums to garner information regarding such stolen and sold Nepali artefacts so as to retrieve them.

According to Gautam, the Department is also coordinating with concerned authorities in the UK, the USA and France to reclaim such Nepali treasure troves are in those countries.
