PM Oli stresses on linking technology with productivity and development

Kathmandu, May 2: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said use of information technology (IT) is prerequisite to the development and prosperity of the country. PM Oli further said the foundation is being prepared for digital Nepal.

Addressing a programme organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology today to mark the 2nd National ICT Day in Kathmandu, the PM shared that information highway is being created with the expansion of optical fibres.  He added that IT must be utilized for the benefit of the country and people.

On the occasion, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Banskota, said all stakeholders including people, private sectors and the government would make a stride with the utmost use of the IT sector.

Also speaking on the occasion, Member of the National Planning Commission, Min Bahadur Shahi informed that the strategy of digital Nepal included in the 15th periodic plan will be fully implemented.

Today itself Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the campaign of ‘model smart school’ based on information technology for teaching by remote-clicking amid a programme held in Kamalpokhari in Kathmandu today.

Live telecast of the inaugural ceremony was shown in Bishwo Shanti Secondary School in Kaski where the campaign has been launched.

The school has been the first of Gandaki State to become information technology friendly school with the launch of the drive. The government has a goal of implementing the campaign in at least one community school in each state.
