New technology and practices will be adopted to make federal and provincial elections successful: Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya

Kathmandu: Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has said the commission will move ahead using new technology and practices to make federal and provincial elections successful.

Addressing a programme organized to review voters’ education in the recent local election, Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya admitted the ineffectiveness of voter’s education during the local election.

In the programme attended by executives of various government media houses, the Chief Election Commissioner, vowed to continue the positive practices and learn from past mistakes.

Also taking part in the programme, Radio Nepal’s Chief Executive Director Buddhi Bahadur K.C. suggested providing voter’s education materials based on the reach of the media house.

Likewise, Nepal Advertisement Board Chair Laxman Humagai pointed to a violation of the election code of conduct on various social media sites and urged for effective laws.

Similarly, Nepal Television’s Executive Chairman Sameer Jung Shah pledged whole-hearted support of government media to the Election commission.
