13th Israeli Film Festival starts in Kathmandu

November 25, Kathmandu: The 13th Israeli Film Festival started in Kathmandu on Thursday. The film festival will be organized for three days starting from Thursday.

The film festival was jointly inaugurated by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale and Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Hanan Goder.

Inaugurating the film festival, Minister Ale expressed the belief that such cultural exchanges would help bolster the bilateral relations between Nepal and Israel.

Minister Ale said that the Nepali film sector had seen considerable development in the last few years.

Minister Ale also urged Israeli investors to invest in Nepal’s film sector.

Also speaking during the event, Ambassador Goder said films would bring the people of Nepal and Israel together.

This year the film festival has been organized as per the Drive-in concept.

Drive-in film screening allows people to enjoy films with family in the safety of their own vehicle, according to the Israeli embassy.

“The films will be opened for the public on 26 and 27 November 2021. Anyone who loves film can enjoy this unique experience from his or her vehicle. Entry for the film is free. However, to secure parking place at the Drive-in, the viewers are required to register via Hotel Soaltee website www.soaltee.com,” the Embassy has stated.

As many as five films would be screened in the three-day-long film festival.
