Country observing National Paddy Day

June 29, Kathmandu: The National Paddy Day( Dhan Diwas) is being observed across the nation.

The Paddy day is observed on Asar 15 in the lunar calendar every year to mark the paddy cultivation season.

Similarly, Asar 15 is also celebrated as the festival of a special delicacy including a mix of curd and beaten rice in the Nepali society.

Nepal started celebrating Asar 15 as National Paddy Day from 2005 as per the minister-level decision held on December 14, 2004.

On this day, farmers splash mud on each other planting rice seedlings, eating curd and beaten rice and singing folk songs.
