National Assembly passes Nepal Education Acts

Kathmandu, August 30: Today’s meeting of the National Assembly passed the Bill to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Education, 2075 BS’. Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel presented a proposal in the meeting seeking the passage of the bill.

Responding to the questions raised by the lawmakers during the discussions, the Education Minister made it clear that the government did not have the intention of restricting the spirit of the constitution while formulating laws. He clarified that the bill was designed keeping the provisions specified in the constitution.

Similarly, the National Assembly unanimously passed the proposal presented before the Assembly seeking consideration on the ‘Nepal Media Council Bill, 2075 BS. by Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Banskota in the meeting.

Responding to the questions raised by lawmakers in course of discussions on the principles of the ‘Nepal Media Council Bill, 2075 BS’ in the meeting of the National Assembly today, the Communications Minister said the bill has been brought with the objective of rendering the mass communications media safe, dignified and responsible rather than restricting the journalism.

Likewise, A report related to the ‘Nepal Police and State (Working Procedure, Supervision, and Coordination)- Bill, 2076 BS’ and a report about the ‘Police Adjustment Bill- 2076 BS’ were presented in a session of National Assembly today.

Legislation Management Committee president Parshuram Meghi Gurung presented the reports in the meeting after completing the clause-wise deliberations on the bills in the committee.
