Dadeldhura bus accident update: Death toll rises to five, 12 injured sent to Dhangadhi for treatment

Dadeldhura, October 16: The death toll from the bus accident in Dadeldhura has reached five. The body of an additional victim was found under the bus, bringing the total number of deceased to five.

According to Police Inspector Upendra Bahadur Bam at the District Police Office Dadeldhura, the body of 60-year-old Gowani Mahara from Purchaudi Municipality-10 in Baitadi was recovered from the accident site around 11 a.m. during search and rescue operations.

The bus, with the registration number Na 8 Kha 1078, was traveling from Mahendranagar in Kanchanpur to Purchaudi of Baitadi when it crashed last night in Khasrekhan of Amargadhi Municipality-7, Dadeldhura.

The other four victims had already been identified: 45-year-old Jayamati Bohara, 20-year-old Kamala Bohara, her infant son and 22-year-old Sahadev Bohara of Purchaudi Municipality-3 in Baitadi district, all of whom died at the scene.

Twelve people, including the seriously injured bus driver Birendra Bohara, have been sent to Dhangadhi for further treatment, as confirmed by Inspector Bam.

The bus fell nearly 300 meters off the road and landed on the Pokhara-Belapur road.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Authorities are continuing their search, fearing that more individuals may be missing.

Local residents and police are actively involved in the search efforts.

The bus was severely damaged in the crash.
