On Air Station:

All gates of Gandaki barrage opened

Nawalparasi, West: All the gates of Gandaki barrage at Triveni in East Nawalparasi have been opened after the water flow has increased.

According to the measurement at 9 am, there is a flow of 362 thousand 200 cusecs. Now 36 gates of the barrage have been opened, informed Ganesh Thapa, Inspector of Armed Police.

As the structures are dilapidated due to old dams, the barrage cannot handle more than 400,000 cusecs of water at present.

Chief District Officer Scheme Shrestha informed Radio Nepal that despite the increase in the water level in the canal in West Nawalparasi, there has been no damage so far. She said that all the security agencies have been put on alert.
