‘Make constitution acceptable to all’

Kathmandu, Sept 21: Former minister and leader Nilambar Acharya asserted that the constitution should be amended to address the challenges surfaced during the practice. The national charter needs to be acceptable to all, he stressed.

At a programme organized by the Modern Kanya College at Bhimsengola, Kathmandu marking its 18th anniversary, Acharya saw the need for waging a discourse on the amendment of national charter to address the problems facing people of all class, communities, ethnicities and profession.

He highlighted the need to sensitize all governments about the constitution at first and considering revision in it thereafter.

Also speaking in the programme, Dr Prakash Kumar Shrestha, member of the National Planning Commission outlined the need for the political parties and government agencies on the issue of combating corruption to fulfill the aspiration of  ‘Happy Nepali: Prosperous Nepal’.

Likewise, Bagmati Province Assembly’s member Deependra Shrestha observed that there was no remarkable stride in terms of economic development in the country due to political instability and widespread corruption.

Economist Dr Rewat Bahadur Karki underscored fiscal discipline to revitalize national economy.

Another expert Kashiraj Dahal opined that lack of fiscal discipline in political and administrative realm had increased corruption, thereby impeding the promotion of good-governance.

Journalist Babita Basnet expressed her concern over the decreasing number of students in the country’s schools and universities.
