Constitutional Council recommends Prakash Man Singh Raut for the post of Chief Justice

Kathmandu: The Constitutional Council has recommended Prakash Man Singh Raut for the appointment to the post of Chief Justice.

In a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Monday, the Council recommended Raut, the senior judge of the Supreme Court, for the role of Chief Justice.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Chief Justice Biswambar Prasad Shrestha, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, and opposition leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

The Constitution Council’s recommendation comes as Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha is set to retire on the 4th of October.
