Chinese Ambassador assures timely reconstruction of Nuwakot Durbar

May 2, Kathmandu: During an onsite visit on Monday, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, announced that the reconstruction of the quake-damaged seven-storied Durbar of Nuwakot, as well as other religious and archaeological heritage sites in the nearby areas, would soon begin.

The Chinese Ambassador assured the timely completion of the reconstruction of the Durbar within a certain timeline and stated that preparations were underway to begin the task.

The Chinese Government has taken responsibility for reconstructing eight religious, cultural, and archaeological structures, including the seven-storied Nuwakot Durbar, which was damaged during the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake.

The Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritages will undertake the reconstruction of these heritage sites, including the Nuwakot Durbar, Tulaja Bhawani Temple, Garadghar, Rangamahal, Bishnu Temple, Narayan Temple, and Lampati and Setopati Durbar at the premises of Bhairavi Temple.

Ambassador Chen confirmed that the reconstruction work would commence soon, although the exact date has not been confirmed yet, citing some technical aspects and bilateral understanding.

The reconstruction of these heritage sites will help preserve Nepal’s rich cultural and historical heritage and contribute to the country’s overall development.
