President Paudel: Linguistic and cultural diversity defines our national identity and pride

Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel emphasized the vital role of diverse language, literature, and culture in representing Nepal’s rich linguistic and cultural diversity.

During his address at the National Poetry Festival, 2024 held at the office of the President, Sheetal Niwas on Monday, President Paudel stated, “Our language, literature, and culture are the essence of our national pride and identity.”

President Poudel underscored the importance of protecting, enriching, and developing these elements along with traditional knowledge.

In the program held to mark the 67th anniversary of Nepal Pragya Pratisthan (Nepal Academy) today, President Poudel said, “Language is a powerful medium for expressing our desires, emotions, and ideas, while literature beautifully articulates these expressions, ensuring that our language remains vibrant for generations.”

The President emphasized literature’s crucial role in preserving and conveying people’s knowledge, experiences, and thoughts, stating, “Institutions like Nepal Pragya Pratishthan are essential in upholding the significance of literature in our society.”

He also expressed his delight in the increased participation at this year’s national poetry festival, which welcomed poems from various native languages spoken across Nepal.

“I hope that in the years to come, poets from all linguistic backgrounds will contribute to the National Poetry Festival, making it a milestone in the advancement of Nepali poetry,” President Paudel remarked.

During the ceremony, he presented awards to the winning poets, celebrating their contributions to the literary landscape of Nepal.
