Nepal Police introduces free bus service in Kathmandu valley for Dashain festival today

Kathmandu: Nepal Police has introduced a temporary free bus service operating throughout the Kathmandu Valley today on the occasion of Dashain.

This initiative aims to alleviate the challenges faced by citizens due to limited public transportation options during the festival.

According to central police spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dan Bahadur Karki, two buses will operate free of charge all day within and outside the Ring Road.

He explained, “On Tika day, public transport is significantly reduced, making it difficult for people to travel for Tika ceremonies and other essential activities. Therefore, we have implemented this plan.”

One bus will depart from the police headquarters in Naxal, stopping at Baluwatar, Teaching Hospital, Chakrapath, New Bus Park, Balaju, Swayambhu, Kalanki, Balkhu, Satdobato, Lagankhel, Jawalakel, Thapathali, Maitighar, Putalisadak, and Jay Nepal Hall before returning to Naxal.

The second bus will also leave Naxal, traveling to Ratopul, Gaushala, the airport, Koteshwar, Thimi, Sallaghari, Suryabinayak, Chabahil, Sukedhara, Chakrapath, Teaching Hospital, and Baluwatar, before making its way back to the headquarters.

This service provides a much-needed solution for residents to navigate the city during the festive season.
