FNJ national gathering continues

Bhaktapur, Oct 5: The national gathering of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ)’s province and district chapter presidents is continuing in Bode, Madhyapur Thimi.

The gathering organized by FNJ central committee and managed by FNJ Bhaktapur Chapter has convened in Bode since this morning,

The meeting with the province and district presidents has started discussions to find ways to solve the problem when scheduled election dates were postponed couple of time due to membership dispute, FNJ general secretary Roshan Puri said.

The presidents of 53 district chapters had submitted a memorandum to the central committee demanding a national assembly to resolve the dispute related to membership.

Presided over by acting central chair Bala Adhikari, the meeting was attended by province and district presidents from different districts.

Discussions and consultations have been held virtually with the chapter chairs who could not physically attend due to the disaster.

Former central chairs Dr Suresh Acharya, Taranath Dahal and Dr Mahendra Bista, among others are participating in the national gathering.

Puri informed that discussions are being held on different proposals regarding the election date and solution to the membership row.

FNj Bhaktapur president Jagat Krishna Prajapati, on behalf of the district presidents, has proposed recognizing the list unanimously passed by the district chapters and approved by the province, automatically cancel the membership transferred against the statute and hold the election on 4 January 2025.
