Hooliganism on street affects judicial process: NC

Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress has said its attention was drawn towards the hooliganism of supporters of RSP President Rabi Lamichhane, which it argued, would affect the investigation and judicial process.

Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, the NC said the supporters of Lamichhane, who is arrested in connection with cooperative fraud, were panicking and terrorizing the independent agencies of the State and exerting ill influence.

The NC objected to the rowdy demonstration of RSP that aimed at interfering with the fair investigation and adjudication from the legitimate institution of the State and deranging citizens’ freedom, social harmony, and peace and security at the local level. It is the government’s duty and responsibility to enforce the report submitted by the parliamentary probe committee.

As per the report recommendation, the proprietors of the Gorkha Media Network- GB Rai and Chhabi Lal Joshi and its managing director Lamichhane- were arrested to investigate their involvement in the misappropriation of funds from some cooperatives. They were held based on the complaints.

‘It is every citizen’s duty to cooperate with the investigation, probe and judicial process launched by the legitimate body after he/she faces accusation, while the political parties should be more responsible to this end,’ the press statement read, adding that the activities launched by RSP since Lamichhane’s arrest are however reverse and mocking at Nepali people’s aspiration.

If a person, irrespective of the affiliation to any political party, position or capacity, is found involved in the activities subject to the offence as per existing law, he/she needs to be brought to legal remit after proper investigation, the NC commits in the press statement issued by Min Bishwokarma, Publicity Department Chief.
