Radio Nepal sets up breastfeeding and women’s support room

Kathmandu: Radio Nepal has set up a breastfeeding and women’s support room at its central office in Singha Durbar.

The facility was inaugurated today by Radhika Aryal, Secretary at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. During the inauguration, Secretary Aryal expressed confidence that fostering a women-friendly work culture would enhance performance.

Aryal, also the chair of Radio Nepal’s Board of Directors, mentioned that when Radio Nepal and Nepal Television are integrated into a public broadcasting service, all staff will be treated equally.

She emphasized the need for Radio Nepal to uphold professionalism in broadcasting and said it is the responsibility of public institutions to implement the state’s policy of equal participation.

At the event, Radio Nepal’s Executive Director, Amar Dhoj Lama, remarked that creating a respectful workplace would generate positive energy, contributing to better work outcomes. He stressed that women deserve respect, not just sympathy, and assured that when Radio Nepal transitions to a public broadcasting service, women’s leadership representation will be ensured.

Deputy Director Pragya Sharad, also the President of the Sisters’ Group, highlighted the significance of the new facility, which had been a longstanding demand from women employees.
