No room for failure, says Communications Minister Gurung

Gandaki, July 27: Minister of Communications and Information Technology Prithvisubba Gurung has said that the current government will work in a way to give the people a sense of change within a year.

Speaking at a press meet organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Kaski chapter in Pokhara this morning, he said the coalition government has no room for failure and the Prime Minister has also given us clear guidelines on this.

Minister Gurung said the two largest parties in the parliament—Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) have formed the government to speed up the pace of development and good governance along with political stability in the country. “In parliamentary practice, a government of two major parties is seldom formed, we have also used it as a last resort”, he said, “If this government also fails, public trust in the old mainstream political parties will be broken.”

He said that the government will focus on economic reforms, job creation, good governance and infrastructure development activities. On a different note, the Communications Minister said that the laws related to media and communications will be amended promptly. “Some media institutions are running based on old laws and regulations, they should be revised and amended.

The Ministry of Communications will take special initiative to formulate necessary laws towards that end”, he said An action plan will be developed and implemented for the modernization of the media and the professional development of media persons.
