Women’s Asia Cup: Nepal defeated by India by 82 runs

Kathmandu, July 24: Nepal lost to India by 82 runs in the match held yesterday under the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024.
In the match held at Dambulla, Sri Lanka, India posted a total of 178 runs in the full quota of 20 overs at the loss of 3 wickets. India decided to bat first after winning the toss.


Shafali Verma top scored for India with 81 runs in 48 balls followed by Dayalan Hernalatha (47 runs in 42 balls) and Jemimah Rodrigues (28 in 15 balls).


For the bowling side, Sita Rana Magar took 2 wickets and Kabita Joshi took 1 wicket.


In reply, Nepal could muster only 96 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Only Sita Ranamagar, Indu Verma, Rubina Chettry and Bindu Rawal scored in double digits, with Ranamagar top-scoring 18 runs in 22 balls.


For India, Deepti Sharma took 3 wickets, Arundhati Reddy and Radha Yadav took 2 while Renuka Singh took 1 wicket.


Of the three matches played so far, Nepal has lost two and won only one match to collect 2 points in the table also including Pakistan and the UAE.
