The Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Tul Bahadur Karki, shared that police fired one round into the air and two rounds of bullets for self-defence after locals pelted stones at police. He mentioned, ‘Police were compelled to fire bullets after the clash took place between them.

‘A local woman and senior head constable Madan Dangi were injured in the clash. Both the injured are undergoing treatment at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj,’ said Karki. Dangi has sustained head injuries. Police brought Sonnam Singh Sardar, 65, of Duduwa-6 under control after shooting him in his leg.

Accused of a robbery case, Sardar had been absconding for six years. ‘Earlier, police had arrested Sardar but locals helped him to absconding. So police shot him on his leg to bring it under control,’ he added. The situation in the area was tense for an hour while trying to bring Sardar under control.
