National Assembly begins Appropriation bill discussion

Kathmandu: Discussion is ongoing on the Appropriation Bill, 2024  in the National Assembly today.

Opposition Parliamentarians argued that the budget fails to cover all sectors, and communities in line with federalism.

They criticized the budget for lacking financial discipline, and insufficient funds for job creation in agriculture, tourism, and trade.

Ruling party Parliamentarians claimed the budget is balanced given the limited resources, emphasizing good governance, social justice, and employment. However, they admitted it falls short of public expectations.

Parliamentarian also proposed a spending cut for the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply.

Today’s session also covered topics related various ministries.

Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet proposed that the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Bill, 2024 be sent to the Legislation Management Committee for further discussion.
