PM’s attention drawn towards Seti River conservation

Kaski, June 17: Conservationists have drawn the attention of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on conservation of the Seti River which flows through the middle of Pokhara bazaar.

Officials of the Seti River Conservation Campaign called on PM Dahal yesterday and demanded to protect the River that is in a sorry state at the hands of human exploitation.

Campaign’s Chairperson Hem Poudel briefed the PM about the deteriorating state of once pristine river and demanded construction of dam in 8 to 10 places for the long-term conservation of the river.

The campaigners have demarcated the river and banned the excavation of river-bed sands and soils and other aggregates.

On the occasion, PM Dahal, expressed concern over the issue, and assured to take initiatives for the river conservation.

Extending thanks to the campaigners for championing this cause, the PM reaffirmed his commitment to take initiatives for Seti River conservation, shared Bhuwaneshwor Pokharel, member of the Campaign.

The Seti River which literally means the white river originates from the Annapurna massif. It is one of the tourist attractions of Pokhara.
