Two die in Banke due to extreme heat

Banke, June 16: Two people have died in Banke district due to extreme heat. The heat wave has made life difficult, especially for the elderly and children at Nilsagar Sewa Ashram.

The first victim, Topendra Sunar, a gold merchant from Khajura Khurda, died of a heart attack caused by the heat. Sunar, was on his way to the shop when he felt dizzy and stopped his motorcycle. He fainted and was later rescued by locals and police. He was taken to Bheri Hospital, where he was declared dead.

The second victim, Kailash Giri, died on Saturday. Giri, who had been living at Nilsagar Ashram, experienced breathing problems and was admitted to Bheri Hospital.

Nilsagar Ashram, which shelters 216 elderly people and 75 children, is struggling to provide proper housing and care due to a lack of resources.

The weather department reported temperatures reaching 40 to 45 degrees Celsius in Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, and Kanchanpur, causing widespread disruption and hardship.
