Task Force meeting to finalize the terms of reference of the Cooperative Inquiry Committee

Kathmandu: A meeting of the task force is being held today to determine the jurisdiction of the parliamentary committee to investigate the troubled cooperatives.

Mahesh Bertaula, a member of the task force, informed that the meeting was scheduled to be held at 3 pm at the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has been demanding that since Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane is involved in the misappropriation of cooperative savings, the jurisdiction should be decided by mentioning his name.

The meeting of the task force tasked to finalize the mandate had been inconclusive due to the lack of agreement on this demand of Congress.

The three previous meetings of the ruling party and the main opposition Nepali Congress could not conclude due to their respective positions.
