Norwegian Ambassador calls on Vice President Yadav

May 9, Kathmandu: Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav held a courtesy meeting with the Norwegian Ambassador to Nepal, Torun Dramdal, at the Vice President’s office in Lainchaur on Thursday.

The discussion focused on bilateral relations between Nepal and Norway, democracy, human rights, and social justice, according to the Vice President’s secretariat.

During the meeting, Vice President Yadav acknowledged Norway as a close friend of Nepal, highlighting the friendly and cordial relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1973. He emphasized the shared values of democracy, human rights, and social justice between the two countries and underscored the importance of high-level political leadership, development cooperation, people-to-people relations, investment, trade, and tourism in strengthening Nepal-Norway relations for mutual benefit.

Vice President Yadav also expressed Nepal’s prioritization of its relationship with Norway as a development partner, acknowledging Norway’s contributions to renewable energy, education, and good governance, which have been beneficial for Nepal’s development endeavours.

He expressed optimism for continued support from Norway in Nepal’s development path, emphasizing the importance of bilateral and multilateral cooperation on mutual interests.

In response, Ambassador Dramdal noted the similarities between Nepal and Norway, highlighting Norway’s support in areas such as hydropower, electricity transmission, and efforts to bring Norwegian investors to contribute to Nepal’s economic development.
