Finance Minister Pun returns home concluding his US visit

Kathmandu, April 20: Finance Minister Barshman Pun on Saturday returned home concluding his US visit.

Finance Minister Pun returned home after attending the joint Spring meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

The Finance Minister had left for Washington DC via Qatar Airways on Monday, the 15th of April leading a four-member delegation.

Minister Pun addressed the ministerial meeting of Group V-20 of the countries threatened by the impact of climate change as the keynote speaker.

V-20 is a forum to raise voice in the global community to mitigate climate change risks and increase financial support during the transition period in the global economy.

Minister Pun also attended the sideline meeting on high-level climate nexus and session on clean energy transition in South Asia as well as various bilateral and multilateral meetings.

The Finance Minister urged the development partners to increase support to Nepal’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and reconstruction of physical infrastructure.

He also urged international investors to attend the 3rd International Investment Summit scheduled to be held on the 28th and 29th of April in Nepal.

In the meeting, Minister Pun discussed preparations for the International Development Association (IDA)-21 meeting under the World Bank Group to be held in Kathmandu in June, determining the priority of investment partnership to be made by the World Bank in Nepal for the next five years.

During his US visit, Minister Pun held meetings with World Bank’s Managing Director Anna Bjerde, World Bank’s Vice President for South Asia, Martin Riser, World Bank’s Vice President for Development Finance Operations Akihiko Nishio, and other high -level officials of International Finance Corporation (IFC) and  International Monetary Fund (IMF).
