Mehboob Alam gets clean chit from match-fixing accusation

March 26, Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Court has acquitted five people, including former national cricket player Mahaboob Alam and cricketer Adil Ansari, from match-fixing accusations.

The bench of Judge Kamal Prasad Pokharel ordered the acquittal of five people held on the charge of match-fixing, arguing that the petitioner’s claim was not sufficient.

According to Chandra Prasad Panthi, information officer of District Court Kathmandu, the court acquitted the five individuals after the claims made by the government against them could not be substantiated.

They were arrested for alleged match-fixing in the Nepal T-20 League held in Kathmandu last year but released on bail of three hundred thousand rupees.
