World Radio Day today!

February 13, Kathmandu: World Radio Day is being celebrated worldwide, including in Nepal, on Tuesday.

Observed annually on February 13th, World Radio Day holds significance as it commemorates the role of radio in informing, entertaining, and educating communities. This year’s theme, “Radio: A Century Informing, Entertaining, and Educating,” underscores the profound impact radio has had over the past century.

Radio remains a pivotal communication medium globally, recognized for its accessibility and cost-effectiveness, particularly in facilitating conflict resolution and peacebuilding efforts.

Designated by UNESCO in 2011, February 13th serves as a tribute to the invaluable contributions of radio stations, radio personnel, and listeners worldwide.

Buddhi Bahadur KC, the Executive Director of Radio Nepal, has also extended his warm regards on this occasion, emphasizing the significance of radio in our lives.

As we mark World Radio Day, let us acknowledge the enduring influence of this medium in connecting communities, amplifying voices, and fostering dialogue for a better world.
