President Paudel meets US Congressional delegation

September 1, Kathmandu: A delegation from the United States Congress, led by Mark Pocan, visited President Ramchandra Paudel at Sheetal Niwas on Thursday.

During the meeting, President Paudel emphasized the importance of democracy in upholding human values and highlighted Nepal’s new Constitution for its inclusive provisions.

The President recognized the ongoing need to shape Nepal’s social system and welcomed the US delegation’s role in this regard.

President Paudel underscored the relationship between poverty and different social evils, suggesting that poverty alleviation would help address these issues.

The US delegation praised Nepal’s Constitution and noted differences in women’s rights provisions compared to the US Constitution. Their visit aimed to discuss various aspects of human values in Nepal, including human rights, labour, immigration, child welfare, employment, trade, and access to justice.

The delegation, comprising members Mark Pocan, Dan Timothy Kildee, Veronica Escobar, Susan Wild, and US Ambassador to Nepal Dean Thompson, engaged in fruitful discussions on strengthening ties between the two countries.
