Children gather to formulate a plan for their municipality

Kavre: Namobuddha Municipality of Kavrepalanchok organized a gathering of children to formulate a plan for the new financial year 2080-81.

The Municipality is preparing for the declaration of ‘Child-Friendly Municipality gathered school children to formulate a plan with the meaningful participation of children.

Office-bearers and representatives of child clubs of 11 secondary schools and four basic schools participated in the program.

The children participating in the gathering discussed about child-friendly plans, budgets, programs and structures and proposed a suitable plan, said Krishna Ghimire who facilitated the meeting.

On that occasion, Mayor Kunsang Lama said that children should be made capable of leading the country by developing their leadership and personality. He said that the municipality will allocate a budget with suitable programs to make the campaign successful.

Likewise, Deputy Mayor Ratna Bahadur Lama promised that children’s plans will be included in the upcoming budget as Namobuddha has promised to build a child-friendly city.

The municipality has been carrying out various activities under the Child-friendly Municipality campaign.

Accordingly, child-friendly teachers have been appointed in all schools and child-friendly ward committees and child rights ward committees have been reconstituted in 11 wards.

The municipality carried out an assessment of child-friendly indicators in 40 community schools and six institutional schools.

Likewise, community schools, people’s representatives, child-friendly teachers, child club networks, municipality employees and ward secretaries have been oriented on the concept of a child-friendly city.

As per the provision, 51 indicators related to child protection, child development, child participation, and institutional participation should be completed for the declaration of child-friendly local level.
