Former DPM Rayamajhi arrested from Budhanilkantha


May 15, Kathmandu: The Secretary of the CPN (UML) and former Deputy Prime Minister, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, was arrested on Sunday evening from Budhanilkantha in Kathmandu after being on the run following an arrest warrant issued by the Nepal Police.

Rayamajhi is alleged to have played a role in a fraud scheme involving millions of Nepali rupees, in which Nepali citizens were promised the opportunity to immigrate to the United States under the guise of being Bhutanese refugees.

The arrest follows the recent arrest of other high-profile individuals suspected of involvement in the same scheme, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 13.
