Qatari Ambassador Al-Ansari calls on Industry Minister Bhandari
Employment, Trade, Tourism, and Cooperation discussed
September 10, Kathmandu: Qatar’s Ambassador to Nepal, Mishal Mohammad Al-Ansari, paid a courtesy visit to Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supply, Damodar Bhandari.
During the meeting held at the Ministry on Tuesday, Minister Bhandari congratulated Qatar on its upcoming third summit of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).
The Minister highlighted the strong diplomatic ties between Nepal and Qatar, expressing gratitude for the employment opportunities Qatar has provided for over 367,000 Nepalis working in various sectors.
He acknowledged the establishment of the Nepal Business Association in Qatar in 2021, which has strengthened economic ties and promoted entrepreneurship among Nepalis in the Gulf nation.
Minister Bhandari noted the potential for increased cooperation in trade, tourism, and investment, and called for Qatari investment through the Qatar Fund for Development. He also discussed the ongoing negotiations on a proposed agreement for mutual promotion and protection of investments between the two governments.
He emphasized the need to address Nepal’s trade deficit with Qatar by exploring new markets for Nepali products, particularly in agriculture, and utilizing the direct air connection to boost tourism and bilateral trade.
Ambassador Al-Ansari responded positively to the discussions and formally invited Minister Bhandari to visit Qatar on October 16. He reiterated Qatar’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and increasing cooperation
