Mechi Highway obstructed again

Panchthar: Vehicular movement has been completely obstructed again at Hewakhola of Panchthar along Mechi highway.

The vehicular movement has been obstructed again after a flood on the Hewa stream that occurred on Tuesday night damaged the diversion.

The diversion was brought into operation from Tuesday itself to resume the vehicular movement, said Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Hari Khatiwada.

Police have asked all not to drive at the Phidim-Taplejung section of the Mechi highway due to the disruption of traffic.

The Phidim-Taplejung road section along Mechi highway was obstructed after a flood occurred on June 17 swept away the bridge and road at Hewakhola. The vehicular movement was resumed on Tuesday after constructing the diversion with four-day efforts.

Police have banned vehicular movement from diversion since Tuesday night, keeping the risk in mind.
