Measles in Banke comes under control soon: Minister Giri

January 24, Kathmandu: Minister for Health and Population Padam Giri has assured that the measles spread in Banke district will come under control soon.

At a programme organized by the Health Journalists’ Forum here Monday, Minister Giri informed that efforts were underway to contain the measles spread for a month in Banke. “Efforts against measles are intensified effectively, so it will be brought under control in a month,” the Minister reiterated.

According to the Minister, the people’s representatives at local level and women health workers were directed to immunize children against measles.

He however said it was worrying if the disease spreads in other places as well. Necessary infrastructures will be created for quality health service and facility after conducting a scientific study on it.

“We are conducting study on hospital infrastructures and basic hospitals were getting new buildings,” he informed. Moreover, the Minister shared the plight that medical human resources, including doctors were reluctant to go to remote places.

A concrete plan of action was needed for it, he added. The Minister vowed to maintain transparency in every activity. Forum’s Chairman Ram Prasad Neupane viewed time has come to wipe out aberrations in health sectors.
