Portugal defeats Switzerland and Morocco stuns Spain to make it to quarterfinals

December 7, Kathmandu: Portugal and Morocco have made it to the quarter-finals of the FIFA Football World Cup 2022 underway in Qatar.

In the round of 16 match played on Tuesday, Morocco defeated 2010 world cup winner Spain in a penalty shootout. The two teams had played a goalless draw in regulation time.  

Meanwhile, in the final match of the pre-quarterfinals held at Lusail Stadium of Qatar Nepali time this morning, Portugal beat Switzerland 6-1 to enter into the quarter-finals.

Goncalo Ramos scored a hat trick for Portugal. He scored the goals in the 17th, 51st and 67th minutes of the match.

Likewise, Pepe scored a goal in the 33rd minute, Rafael Guerreiro in the 55th minute and Rafael Leao in the additional time.

Manual Akanji got a consolation goal for Switzerland in the 58th minute.

Portugal would take on Morocco in the quarter-finals match of the World Cup.
