Series of earthquakes rock western Nepal; six people confirmed dead

November 9, Kathmandu: A series of earthquakes have jolted the western part of Nepal.  Six people died in Doti district because of the quakes.

Three earthquakes that occurred with their epicentres in Doti rocked the region. Many houses have been destroyed in the region.

According to the National Seismology and Research Center, the first earthquake measuring magnitude 5.7 took place with its epicentre around Khaptad National Park in Doti district on Tuesday at 9:07 PM.

The initial quake was followed by two other quakes of magnitude 4.1 and 6.6 respectively.

The Seismology Centre said the tremors were fresh quakes and not aftershocks of the 2015 Gorkha earthquake.
